Recently, I was contracted to design the very large front yard of a property in Gwinnett County. The client wanted a fruit orchard on the left side of the driveway and ornamental plants along the edge of a wooded area to the left of the driveway. If you click on the image below, you'll see the fruit orchard contains some interesting plants including pomegranate (Punica granatum), chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba), nanking cherry (Prunus tomentosa), pineapple guava (Feijoa sellowiana), dwarf mulberry (Morus 'Geraldi Dwarf'), asian pear (Pyrus pyrifolia), along with more conventional apples, cherries, and plums. There are also three octagonal raised planting beds for herbs and vegetables in the center of the orchard area.
Here's the plan. If you click on the image, a larger pdf version will open.

If you are in the Atlanta area and need information about growing fruit in the home landscape, a good place to start is the Atlanta Fruits discussion forum at Yahoo.
